The Tascam DP004 Digital Pocketstudio Recorder is based on 30 years of cassette Portastudios, yet it brings users into the new-age of digital recording. Though rooted in Tascam's long line of cassette Portastudios, the Pocketstudio features four CD-quality tracks and functions like Undo and Repeat that were not possible on past generation cassette portastudios.

Much like those easy-to-use Portastudios, the Pocketstudio sports a similar row of knobs to set levels and pan, instead of confusing users with menu screens. The Tascam DP004 can record two sources simultaneously onto its removable SD memory. A stereo condenser microphone has been built into the unit, making it simple and ready to record in any situation, whether that's concerts, rehearsals, or sudden songwriting inspirations.

The rear panel offers dual 1/4 inch jacks, providing connection to dynamic mics or other stereo/mono sources. These inputs are also switchable to a guitar level signal for easy recording. Key features of the Tascam DP004 include two 1/4 mic/line inputs, a switchable guitar input, a headphone/line output, and a USB 2 connector for connecting to a home computer. It records to SD Card media and offers autopunch, repeat, and record undo functions.

The DP004 allows users to build up their arrangement by filling up all four tracks. The Bounce feature then consolidates tracks, making room for more overdub layers. Mixing is also built into the Digital Pocketstudio, allowing users to set levels and pan, then record their mix onto a dedicated stereo master track. These tracks and mixes can then be transferred to a computer over USB for CD burning and online sharing.
